ICE – an acronym for “Innovation Challenge for Entrepreneurship” is an annual competition for post-secondary students (i.e. in colleges and universities) to develop and showcase their commercial innovation and ideas.
ICE is open to full-time post-secondary students (incl. those in graduate or PhD programs) from around the world. Participation is free.
ICE typically runs for 4 weeks during February and April of each year. The specific dates for each year are published on the website.
Yes, ICE is a virtual program. Participants register online, work at their respective locations and submit their deliverables online.
You can participate solo or in a team. You can form your own team (during online registration) or join an existing team formed by other students. Each team can have up to 4 students from the same or different institutions.
During registration, follow the prompts to “Form your team” or “Join a team”. If you form a team, you can add your friends to your team (just enter their email ids) and/ or keep your team “open” for others to join. To join a team, review the list of existing teams and select the one you wish to join.
Each team is assigned a virtual Teamspace to collaborate on the project. Your Teamspace is equipped with necessary tools including file sharing, work-planning, calendars to schedule meetings and chat/ video-call tools. This is ideal for teams collaborating remotely across campuses. However, it is not mandatory for participants to use the Teamspace; you can work offline and simply submit your deliverables online.
